JSlopeImport & Export

Import & Export Overview

Move models and results in and out of JSlope.

JSlope parses local project, Slide2, RocFall2, and DXF files in your browser and writes saved or downloaded files locally. Selecting a local file does not send that file to a cloud compute service.

Network-backed account and licensing checks, Cloud Materials, hosted spatial workspaces and surfaces, and Esri terrain are separate features. They communicate with their services when used; see the DXF page for the hosted parts of the 3D workspace.

Supported paths

PathDirectionFormatNotes
Slide2Import only.slmd / .slim archiveImports the supported parts of every project scenario. There is no Slide2 export command.
RocFall2Import only.fal8 modelFile > Import > RocFall2… imports the model as editable Rockfall input in one scenario group. Results are not imported. Settings JSlope cannot represent exactly are listed in a message after the import and kept in the scenario group's description.
DXF - 2DImport only.dxfFlatten and classify one drawing as model geometry.
DXF - 3DImport and workspace save/load.dxf / .jw3Combine sources, nominate sections, then create scenario groups. No DXF export.
Native projectSave and load.jwsSQLite project containing all groups and scenarios and any matching computed results.
ResultsExport only.jwsrStandalone SQLite export of the currently stored scenario results.

Choosing a path

  • Coming from Rocscience Slide2? Use Slide2 Import. Review the reported warnings after import because unsupported entities are skipped and unsupported anisotropy records can reject the import.
  • Starting from a section drawing? Use Import DXF - 2D, classify curves, and build a JSlope model.
  • Cutting one or more sections from 3D data? Use Import DXF - 3D, optionally save the work as .jw3, and create scenario groups from the included sections.
  • Saving editable analysis work? Use the native .jws format. It is the lossless JSlope project format.

Slide2 and DXF are interchange/import paths, not substitutes for a native project save. They do not carry every JSlope setting or result.
