JSlope

JSlope Overview

Browser-based 2D limit-equilibrium slope stability analysis: geometry, materials, groundwater, slip-surface search, and multiple solvers.

All apps require a verified JWGeotech account and acceptance of the current Terms. Opening or reloading the app requires an internet connection to verify sign-in. An already authenticated tab can continue through temporary outages until its verified session expires; Browser and Native solving in JSlope and JRunout retain their licence requirements. Sign-out or session expiry locks the workspace and retains unsaved work in the tab. Signing in does not upload local project files.

Open JSlope to set up a project.

JSlope is a browser-based application for 2D limit-equilibrium (LEM) slope stability analysis. It combines a CAD-style geometry editor, material zoning, groundwater definition, applied loads, ground support, and automated slip-surface search with several factor-of-safety solvers.

JSlope and JRunout are free during early access, including Cloud solving with a verified account. Build, edit and save models without a paid licence. Browser and Native solving require the appropriate product licence permissions.

Choose Cloud, Browser or Native in the compute settings. New accounts without a licence default to Cloud. Your saved selection is respected; an unavailable location reports a refusal and never silently runs elsewhere.

Cloud solves and associated numerical previews/post-processing upload relevant model data for processing. Signing in or opening a local file alone does not upload it. Cloud Materials and hosted surfaces upload data when you use those features. Read the Cloud access and retention guide.

Help → Submit Feedback lets signed-in users send a report and optionally select Include a copy of my model. This option is off by default. Selecting it attaches the current .jws project, including unsaved changes, all scenarios and normally saved results, up to 200 MiB. It does not mark the local project as saved. Model copies are stored privately on the JWG server for JWG administrators until an administrator deletes them. If an upload fails, the feedback draft remains available to retry or submit with the model option unchecked.

What you can do

  • Build geometry with a CAD editor: external boundary, internal material regions, water tables and piezometric lines, weak layers, tension cracks, and anisotropic surfaces.
  • Define materials using four strength models: Mohr-Coulomb, Generalized Hoek-Brown, Generalized Shear Function, and Generalized Anisotropic.
  • Add groundwater via a water table, piezometric lines, or pressure-head settings per material.
  • Apply loads: distributed loads, line loads, and seismic (pseudo-static) coefficients.
  • Add ground support: End Anchored, Grouted Tieback, Soil Nail, Geosynthetic, and Pile.
  • Search slip surfaces: automated circular search plus several non-circular methods (block-search polyline and metaheuristic optimizers), or supply user-defined surfaces.
  • Solve with Bishop Simplified, Janbu, Janbu Corrected, Spencer, and GLE (Morgenstern-Price), selectable individually or in combination.
  • Evaluate probabilistic materials with constant, normal, or gamma input distributions, reproducible sampling, percentile summaries, and interactive histogram, cumulative, scatter and convergence graphs.
  • Organize work into projects, groups, and scenarios, then run every scenario marked for computation with one LEM Compute action.
  • Import Rocscience Slide2 archives and 2D or 3D DXF geometry, save a resumable 3D section workspace as .jw3, and save the analysis project as .jws.
