Place and configure radars

Position instruments and review manufacturer scan specifications.

Choose Place radar and click the terrain. The study supports up to 20 placements. New placements use the selected model/configuration with manufacturer defaults, or ArcSAR Performance when none is selected.

Position and direction

Easting and Northing are source-grid coordinates. Editing them snaps to the highest terrain surface at that plan position; points outside the terrain are rejected. Direct picking preserves the clicked surface. Height is antenna-centre height above ground; antenna RL equals terrain RL plus height. The initial 3 m is a planning assumption.

Azimuth is clockwise from grid north. Use Aim at wall to derive bearing and tilt from a terrain pick, or Move radar to relocate the selected instrument. Excluding a placement stops it contributing coverage.

Specifications

Radar specifications… lists configuration-specific scan envelopes and resolution parameters. Selecting a row previews it; Apply copies that configuration into the placement. Closing without Apply leaves the radar unchanged. Read the Specification basis below the table, including qualifications and source links.

A dash means unpublished or unverified. Complete minimum and maximum range and horizontal and vertical field of view before visibility analysis. Empty numeric fields mean unknown. Pixel size may remain unknown; visibility still works, but the resolution map cannot report widths. Editing a placement does not alter manufacturer catalogue entries.

Use View → Display → Radar range and FOV to display the selected radar's guides. These guides are presentation aids and do not change the calculation.
