JRunout

Results, Playback & CSV

Interpret Rockfall summaries, trajectories, stopping displays, distribution graphs, and CSV exports.

After a successful batch, open Results → Rockfall. Results remain visible when their status is complete or stale; stale results are labeled so they are not mistaken for the current inputs.

Solver progress diagnostics

While computation is open, the Rockfall Solver reports:

  • Rocks — completed Rock result count;
  • Stopped — Rocks classified with a stopping location;
  • Out of bounds — Rocks that left the modeled domain;
  • Maximum runout — maximum travel distance when no Toe Point exists, or the greatest trajectory X reached minus toe X when a Toe Point exists.

The solver window remains open after a successful or incomplete batch so you can review these values and any preflight issues. Closing it does not copy the four values into a separate Results table, and they are not part of distribution CSV export.

Display modes

ModeUse
All RocksAnimate every result path together.
Individual RockInspect one Rock index at a time.
Stop-density HeatmapColour terrain cells by the count of nearby stopped Rocks.
Stopping DistributionDraw terrain-aligned stopping bins, optionally split by Rock or Rock Source.

For All Rocks and Individual Rock, results can be coloured by:

  • the Rock definition's plain display colour;
  • Travel Distance;
  • Final Endpoint, or Runout from Toe when a Toe Point exists.

The static displays allow a 0.1–10 m cell/bin size. Stopping Distribution also provides vertical scaling and grouping by all results, Rock definition, or placed Rock Source.

Playback controls and WebGPU

Animated modes provide play/pause, reset, time seek, loop, and 0.25×, 0.5×, 1×, 2×, or 4× speed. Open Configure → Project Settings → Display to enable Use WebGPU for Mesh, FEM, and Rockfall Display.

This option controls Rockfall display. If WebGPU is disabled or unavailable, All Rocks and Individual Rock playback are hidden. The solver, stop-density heatmap, stopping distribution, graphs, and CSV workflow do not depend on animated WebGPU playback.

Histograms and cumulative frequency

Choose Rockfall Graphs and select one metric:

  • Travel Distance
  • Final Endpoint (X-coordinate)
  • Runout from Toe (final/stopped endpoint X minus toe X, when a Toe Point exists)

The histogram uses 20 fixed bins and shows count and percentage. The cumulative view shows ranked cumulative percentage; very large result sets are reduced to at most about 500 displayed/exported cumulative points while retaining the final rank.

Note the toe-relative distinction: the graph metric uses the final or stopped endpoint, while the solver diagnostic's Maximum runout uses the greatest X reached anywhere along a trajectory.

Export CSV

The Rockfall Results Graphs footer has Distribution CSV and Cumulative CSV, and each compact graph card in the Results pane has Export CSV for its own graph:

  • histogram CSV columns: metric, bin, minimum/maximum metres, count, percent;
  • cumulative CSV columns: metric, value metres, cumulative percent, rank, total.

Distribution CSV export is limited to the displayed distribution. It does not export:

  • full trajectories or time histories;
  • per-Rock launch/shape records;
  • the solver summary as a table.

Distribution filenames use the jw-rockfall- prefix.

Collector and Barrier results

Both physics engines retain the highest-energy intersection for each Rock and Collector/Barrier target pair. Each peak record includes time, velocity, angular velocity, translational energy, rotational energy, total kinetic energy, and Barrier retained/exceeded flags. This is not a chronological history of every crossing or collision.

The Collector & Barrier Peak Impacts section in Rockfall Graphs shows the 100 highest-energy retained rows. Choose Peak impacts CSV in the window footer to export the full retained set, including position, velocity, energy components, target IDs, and Barrier outcome.
