Calibration and control points

Establish scale, orientation and coordinate reporting before interpreting measurements.

Open Calibration from the left rail to define the model's accepted scale and orientation. Alternatively, open Control Points, enter or import surveyed controls, review a registration preview, and apply it. Saving control records alone does not register a model. Disabled controls and checkpoints are excluded from fitting. Import coordinate CSV reads the columns name, x, y, z and crs, with optional uncertainty (metres) and checkpoint; each name must match a control already picked on the surface. Leave uncertainty empty to weight controls equally.

Review residuals, spatial distribution and the resulting alignment. A plausible fit is not independent validation of survey quality. Calibration and accepted registration are project edits and participate in undo/redo.

Local coordinates require an explicit registration before conversion to a projected coordinate reference system. JMapper supports the bundled PROJ resources, with no remote grid downloads. Recorded heights are preserved. Choose grid or true reporting north only after accepting a suitable projected frame; local engineering coordinates use local north.

Original source coordinates and picked triangle anchors are preserved. Changing an accepted alignment updates reporting coordinates rather than replacing original geometry. If coordinate conversion is unavailable, resolve the reported reason before exporting metre or orientation results.
