Import OBJ models

Import textured geometry with dependency checks, progress and cancellation.

Choose File → Import OBJ..., select an asset folder, select the models, and confirm import after dependency checks. Keep material libraries and textures inside the selected folder. The import window can be resized from its edges and corners.

JMapper accepts UTF-8 and Windows-1252 resource names. Paths resolve exactly first, then by a unique normalized filename in the referenced directory. Missing or ambiguous dependencies stop preparation with a readable error; source files are never rewritten.

OBJ input is streamed. Limits are 100 million triangles and 20,000 prepared tiles per model, 1 MiB per record, 4,096 vertices per polygon, and 2 GiB per encoded texture. Available browser storage and temporary space can impose lower practical limits. These are admission limits, not performance promises.

Progress describes the current stage: encoding checks, dependency resolution, geometry reading or preparation. A percentage is not an overall completion estimate. Cancel remains available during preparation and removes newly staged import assets after pending writes finish.

Original triangles remain the reference for measurement picks even when display geometry is simplified. After import, calibrate or register the model.
