JVoxel

Terrain preparation

Import the original survey and apply calculation terrain.

Import an OBJ, plain or vulZ-compressed Vulcan .00t, RSGEOMOBJ Mesh version 1 or 4, or ASCII/binary STL. JVoxel retains the original mesh and its source groups.

In Terrain, select Generate terrain to preview upper-surface conversion, then Apply to use it for calculations. Selecting Generate terrain during processing cancels the job. Failure or cancellation retains the last successful mesh. Use source terrain reverses the applied conversion.

Conversion selects the upper surface where source triangles overlap and adds vertical step faces where necessary. It does not smooth the survey, remove high artefacts, fill holes or extend coverage. Review the diagnostics, including overlap area, discarded vertical separation, preserved/split triangles and holes.

New picks hit the visible source or generated terrain. Existing observation coordinates remain unchanged. Identification and mapped runout require applied generated terrain with no outstanding preview. File → Export → Export converted OBJ saves the latest successful preview or applied terrain.
