Mohr-Coulomb Criterion
Inputs and outputs for the linear Mohr-Coulomb shear-strength model.
τ = c + σn tan(φ)
Mohr-Coulomb represents shear strength as a straight line in normal/shear stress space. JLab also computes the corresponding principal-stress envelope.
| Input | Units / Range | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Cohesion | Stress; min 0 | Intercept of the shear-strength envelope. |
| Friction Angle | Degrees; 0 to 89 | Controls the slope of the shear envelope. |
| Tensile Strength | Stress; min 0 | Defines the tensile cutoff used by the plotted envelope. |
Available Outputs
- Principal stress curve and normal/shear curve.
- Input cohesion, friction angle, and tensile strength in the Results panel.
- Selected Sigma3 or SigmaN range maximum in the Results panel.
