Power Curve Criterion
Inputs and outputs for the nonlinear Power Curve normal/shear model.
τ = a(σn + d)b + c
The Power Curve is a nonlinear shear-strength model. JLab samples the normal/shear curve directly and derives a matching principal-stress curve from the tangent Mohr circle geometry.
| Input | Units / Range | Description |
|---|---|---|
| a coefficient | Displayed as stress^(1-b); min 0 | Scale coefficient for the power-law term. |
| b | 0.05 to 5 | Exponent controlling curvature. |
| c | Stress; min 0 | Additive shear-strength intercept. |
| d | Stress; min 0 | Horizontal stress shift; also controls the default plot minimum. |
Available Outputs
- Normal/shear curve, derived principal-stress curve, and calibration data markers.
- Power Curve input parameters in the Results panel.
- Selected Sigma3 or SigmaN range maximum and corresponding shear strength.
