Outputs and Interpretation

Read analysis summaries, export outputs, and understand interpretation limits.

Results Panel

ResultMeaning
Kinematic Analysis Results (Failure Mode)Compact totals and percentages. Named-set rows are shown for planar and flexural modes; named-set-pair rows are shown for wedge mode. Direct + Oblique Toppling transposes its six metrics into rows under the All column. Percentage signs appear in values rather than headings.
Sensitivity chartLives below the sensitivity inputs in the Kinematic Analysis pane. Tick-aligned gridlines and nearest-sample hover or focus guides accompany an exact X/Y readout below the graph. All active orientations includes unassigned No Set rows, with no individual No Set scope.

Plot Legend

Legend sectionMeaning
Set SummarySet symbol, count, mean dip, mean dip direction, and Fisher K.
Symbolic PlotMetadata symbol legend or numeric gradient.
Density ContourColour scale and resolved Fisher kappa.

Status Messages

Status messages appear in project import/export, orientation import, cluster review, orientation editing, DFN, and analysis error states. They are intended to explain what changed or why an action is blocked.

Exported Files

FileContents
jstereonet-orientations.csvCurrent orientation table with custom columns.
jstereonet-project.jstSQLite schema-1, payload-19 project with orientations, metadata expression rules, the shared orientation filter, assignment windows, styles, plot settings, density settings, analysis settings, sensitivity settings, and DFN settings. Earlier schema versions are rejected.
<project>-stereonet.pngCurrent 2D or 3D stereonet viewport as a PNG image.
<project>-dfn.pngCurrent Simple or Baecher DFN viewport as a PNG image.
<project>-analysis.csvActive plane or intersection analysis rows in a machine-readable table.
<project>-report.htmlSelf-contained report with plot, results, data-quality summary, assumptions, and embedded reproducibility settings. It can be printed to PDF from a browser.
PDFPrint → Current View or Report opens the shared print preview. Choose paper, orientation, margins, resolution and title-block fields in Settings, then Print or Export PDF. Reports include paginated results for the captured Stereonet or DFN view.

Blank set labels are stored as No Set; the literal label U is treated as an ordinary named set. The Data Quality left pane reports unassigned rows, duplicate orientation groups, broad orientation outliers, and missing values by metadata column for the active orientation filter.

Interpretation Limits

All kinematic percentages are screening metrics. A high percentage means many orientations satisfy the geometric criteria in the current dataset and parameter state. It does not mean failure is likely. A low percentage does not prove stability.

Before design decisions, check data quality, mapping bias, domain separation, persistence, groundwater, infill, roughness, excavation geometry, stress state, support, and appropriate calculation methods.
