Loads and Water Inputs
Configure external forces, seismic loading, face pressures, and joint water.
External Force
| Input | Range/units | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Enable external force | On/off | Includes the external force vector in the active force balance. |
| Magnitude | kN | Magnitude of the applied external vector. |
| Trend | 0 to 360 degrees | Azimuth of the external force vector. |
| Plunge | -90 to 90 degrees | Vertical inclination of the external force vector; positive is downward in the app convention. |
Seismic Load
| Input | Range/units | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Enable seismic load | On/off | Includes seismic loading in the active force vector. |
| Seismic Coefficient | >= 0 | Multiplier applied with unit weight and wedge volume. |
| Trend | 0 to 360 degrees | Azimuth of the seismic force vector. |
| Plunge | -90 to 90 degrees | Vertical inclination of the seismic force vector. |
Face Pressure Table
| Row | Magnitude units | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Active Slope | kPa | Pressure applied to the slope face in the configured active direction. |
| Active Upper | kPa | Pressure applied to the upper face in the configured active direction. |
| Passive Slope | kPa | Pressure applied to the slope face as passive resistance. |
| Passive Upper | kPa | Pressure applied to the upper face as passive resistance. |
| Trend / Plunge | degrees | Direction vector for each pressure row. |
Joint Water
| Input | Range/units | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Enable joint water | On/off | Includes joint water force in the active vector. |
| Joint Water Mode | Constant Pressure or Gravitational | Constant mode uses entered pressures on each joint. Gravitational mode estimates pressure from fill percentage and water unit weight. |
| Water Unit Weight | kN/m3 | Unit weight of water used in gravitational mode. |
| Joint 1 Pressure | kPa | Constant water pressure applied to Joint 1. |
| Joint 2 Pressure | kPa | Constant water pressure applied to Joint 2. |
| Percent Filled | 0 to 100 percent | Water fill level used in gravitational mode. |
