3D Viewport Controls
Navigate the 3D scene and control visibility without changing engineering inputs.
Viewport Interaction
| Function | Description |
|---|---|
| Orbit | Drag in the 3D viewport to rotate around the current analysis geometry. |
| Zoom | Use mouse wheel or trackpad scroll to move closer or farther away. |
| Pan | Use the browser/device-supported OrbitControls pan gesture. |
| Screen axis | The small axis indicator shows the current X/Y/Z viewing orientation. |
By default, underground bolts are shown for rows that engage a displayed wedge. The rock-bolt status control can also show all configured rows; unengaged rows appear grey. When multiple wedges are displayed, identical physical rows are deduplicated. Both extruded-section and tunnel-intersection wedges show their external and face-transition outlines while suppressing coplanar triangulation edges. Underground wedge joint and excavation-contact faces are translucent so engaged bolts remain visible through the block. A depth prepass selects the face nearest the camera at each pixel, and a stencil mask prevents overlapping face colours from blending together.
Planar-sliding previews widen the slope laterally, continue the upper surface beyond the block, and add a flat landing at the toe. The planar block has a complete outline around both end faces and its connecting edges. These additions are display-only and do not change the two-dimensional calculation geometry.
The Geometry workspace previews the editable configuration, including pending changes, as the current slope, profile, extruded opening, or unioned tunnel intersection without calculated wedges, traces, contact faces, or rock bolts. Results retains the last completed calculation and its input snapshot while drafts change. Successful computation switches to the newly completed results.
Visibility Toggles
| Toggle | Description |
|---|---|
| Show slope | Shows or hides the slope/profile ground skin. Profile slopes are open surfaces without buried bases or extrusion end caps. |
| Show wedge | Shows or hides wedge faces, wedge edges, and the intersection line. |
| Show XYZ scale | Shows or hides the generated scale rulers around the current geometry. |
Invalid Geometry Status
When no valid wedge is formed, review the primary analysis note or kinematic state in the sidebar Messages section. The status-bar Messages action reveals the same feedback, leaving the 3D workspace unobstructed. Inputs remain editable so problems can be corrected immediately.
Workspace and Appearance
Geometry previews draft inputs; Results shows the completed calculation. Switching tabs and changing themes preserve the camera. Use Fit view below the sidebar or in View to frame the current geometry. Viewport backgrounds, neutral edges, labels, grids, and snap indicators follow the selected theme. Geological plane, wedge, bolt-type, and failure-zone colours retain their engineering meaning.
Underground CAD opens in a resizable popup while the 3D scene remains mounted. Closing or minimizing CAD restores access to the same scene and camera. Current View printing uses the active visible CAD editor, or the 3D view when CAD is minimized.
